We left Raglan early on Sunday morning and continue on towards a place called Waitamo. There there are caves with glow worms in them, that you could go into if you wanted. I had paid to do that when I paid for the buss pass, but because I bought it so close to departure and the weekend, I hand’t received the voucher that would allow me to enter for free, and instead of arguing about what was and wasn’t included in my pass, I decided to go for a walk in the beautiful nature together with an American and a German couple that didn’t want to pay for the caves, since I’ll be able to return there anyway. Everyone on the buss are nice and there are a lot of Germans here on vacation and in the IEP office they told us that there is a majority of Germans here doing Working Holidays as well. When I tell the Germans that I know a bit of German form school, most of them says it was a bad idea to learn German, since most young people speak good English, so it’s good to hear that I choose the right subject in school =). I haven’t spoke any German myself yet, because after more than a year of not speaking it is quite hard to find the words, but I understand most of what the Germans say to each other, witch is fun, perhaps it is because I don’t have to listen to specific answers to specific questions, but in general it is a lot easier to understand real Germans speaking German to each other than it was having hearing tests in school, and, as I said, it was more than a year since I read, spoke or listened to any German. |
